Most pages in this one-of-a-kind gift book are printed with gorgeous gold or silver colors on paper that have been carefully selected for each design’s unique pattern and purpose, creating a stunning overall effect.
Each pattern, including small flowers, decorative frames, and classical motifs, has been designed and collaged by Reiko Harajo, a Japanese art director, using techniques and printing decorations from 17th-, 18th- and 19th-century chalcography (copper plate engraving). An introduction to the unique and marvelous motifs by the French caricaturist, J.J. Grandville (1803-1847), is an added feature.
