"This book is a collection of fables, La Fontaine the author being famous for writing fables, each of the fables are a page or two pages long, in verse format and accompanied by black ink/print drawings for the most part (although not each and every fable).

Many of them may be familiar from elsewhere, like the Cicada and The Ant, which I was familiar with from a classic cartoon format called the Grasshopper and the Ants, or simply famous tales in their own right, such as the hare and the tortoise, but still others were completely new to me. It was a very enjoyable read and the stories all were short format, readable, easy to recall and contained messages or a "moral to the story". As a result I think they make great stories to reflect on yourself or as "teaching tales" to share with younger readers. Recommended. Wise old tales indeed." - Amazon Reviewer
